October Happenings

We have really been out and about this October. Filling everyday off full of fall fun. We've taken a trip to a 6 acres corn maze, ate cider donuts, walked through old graveyards, went through an amazing path of carved pumpkins, and made magic wands in Salem. 

The leaves have put on quite a show last week, looking like they have all bursted into flames. Tired, they seem to be tumbling down, gathering around our feet to make rustling sounds in the wind. Halloween is right around the corner. We have our costumes and candy ready to hand out. 

November will be upon us shortly. I don't quite feel ready to give up fall this year. There is still so much I hope to get done before snow falls. 

Fall Without Color

Usually this time of year my photos are all about earthy natural fall leaves and their color. I've been noticing on my drives that more and more trees are changing into firey blossoms of color. We plan on celebrating fall properly with a trip to Salem, MA this weekend. But until then I leave you with some black and white of the children. They are losing teeth and growing inches faster than the seasons are changing.

Hello September

Our routine has changed. The buzz of everyday school life, children spending the waning summer light outside after homework, and us hanging onto the weekend. We are welcoming fall with our whole hearts.
Plans of picking out the perfect pumpkin, maybe a hay ride through a field, and some apple picking are in order.
Fall is the absolute best where we live. I can't imagine not seeing the leaves change color or smelling the change in the air. There is this musty damp crinkling crunching of a New England fall. If you never have experienced one you must take a trip here when it all happens!
Right when all this starts to happen I get back into the knitting, making mode. I feel this need to bake yummy pies while wearing an apron and to light candles at night. It's almost like this internal alarm clock goes off warning that winter is right around the corner and to enjoy the comfort of fall before it's too late.
Things are still crazy hectic around here but soon, very very soon it will all slow down a bit. I need to keep reminding myself of this. The long days, the tired overwhelming feeling will just melt away and soon my favorite month will be upon us. But this month, this September, we are happy to be right here right now.

End to August

I'm still right here. Silent, extremely busy, and enjoying the last bit of summer. Our days have been packed full with our everyday jobs, getting the kids ready for back to school, and big decisions. Those free moments to create a post just haven't popped up - a quick picture snap here and there for instagram has been about the most I've managed to do in August. 

It's not the way I like to spend a month but I'm sure soon things will slow down. A cake will be needed soon to celebrate a birthday and then September will begin. Structured school schedules and quiet mornings. Aahhh!
