For the past couple of days Mr. Sunshine has only been popping in to wave for a minute. It's dark and gray for most of the days. Chilly is the best way to describe it.
He is holding me up. I've tried scanning my watercolors, which only results in these really odd colors. Also I have a nice little pile of vintage items waiting for a photo shoot. So while waiting I'm making - and thinking of ending the week on a high note. Maybe a giveaway is in order.

Positive Thought
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. I'm thankful that I can easily distract myself with my work, especially this week. I've missed my regular routine of things. Trying to stay on the positive, even when the car breaks on the way home from a funeral or the cable box decides to stop working when all you want to do is numb your mind with tv - there is always a way to look at things with the glass half full. Thankful we were minutes away from home and able to get the car towed from the driveway and that we are home today when a cable tech can come out. It's this positive thought that will get you through the roughest of times.

Moment of Silence
Taking a break to appreciate everyone in my life.
Life is precious and we often take it for granted.
An unexpected and very emotional loss.
Our family will be taking sometime to mourn and comfort those in need.
Thank you in advance for your thoughts and prayers.

Whatcha Working on Wednesday
I kept my promise and created something last night. The first step was to get the kids all snuggled into bed so no distractions would take place. So after baths, several books, and me contemplating if bribing them with cookies after they just brushed their teeth would make me a bad mom (don't worry folks no cookies were eaten) the house was finally quiet. TV remained off - it is an easy distraction, instead I turned on my favorite Pandora station (Kate Nash).
What happened next was unexpected. When I made the promise I thought it would include thread, maybe a sewing machine, pins, and fabric but none of that came out of studio last night. Instead the watercolors were raising their hands, paint brushes were asking to be picked, and pencils seemed to be extra sharp for drawing. While I'm not sure if I love the end results yet - I want to do more. Make some prints. Put them in my Print Me Out shop for all to enjoy. What do you think? Maybe a little makeover at Print Me Out is in order.

Promise
Today I promise to create something - anything! Last night I had a burst of ideas. Usually I think to myself that I will remember them and drift off to sleep. But this time I got out of bed and searched for pen and paper to jot them down. I left the pen and paper by my nightstand, just in case any more came to mind. Sometimes when I do this, the ideas that were amazing in my sleepy state are no longer quite the same in the morning. To my surprise this time they were worth the scribble on the paper.
Now I am finding the ideas harder to make then thinking of them. Not that they are difficult concepts or they are things that will take some learning on how to do but more the fact that it's the sun outside. Something that seems to have been missing for awhile. Today is the first day of spring and I have the windows open. This is a rare and welcomed treat in New England.

I have a feeling that my promise is going to have to wait until the sun goes down.

Today we are playing outside in our striped socks and red polka dotted dress.
Yesterday we released star balloons into the sky..
ate spiderweb (Spiderman) cake..
and sang happy birthday to the little man of the house.
This weekend we had rough nights full of tossing and turning, bad dreams, and a sick child in the bed.
But today, we are enjoying the weather.

Bus Stop
Aries and I walked a little early today to pick up the boys from the bus stop.
The sun is shining, birds are chirping, and we didn't put on coats.
It's a sure sign that spring is coming or rather here!

The Weekend
We took a long walk on old brick cobblestone streets, looking at large historic homes. Imagining horse drawn carriages and woman in large brimmed hats with parasols protecting them from the sun. Maybe one day we will live on this street. Every house a different kind of charm, each filled with lots of character.
Then we looked through telescopes at the shore. Listening to the seagulls hawk for more french fries from the children who were laughing and chasing them. The sun was warm, welcoming even the most pale of us out from hiding, to bask in it's glow.
In the distance we saw The House of Seven Gables, sitting with it's large dark ominous presence on the shore. We heard silly conversations about how it's just not right to have two nannies, about a 90 year old taking a spinning class at the gym, and about how someone didn't like Lindsey because she was too smart (btw you can never be too smart).
Our feet hurt from the uneven ground both on the historic streets and the pier. That morning, when I wondered if I should have worn my cute loafers that matched my outfit or my comfortable sneakers, I should have picked the sneakers. It didn't stop us from walking all the way to the lighthouse.
Boats still remain covered from the winter, waiting to make crests in the water. This was the last picture I took before we explored a sweetheart cottage. A cottage that needed more work than I wanted it to have. This was our weekend trip in March. There are already plans for another in April and May.

Turning 3
Today is Odyn's 3rd birthday!! We are waiting a little while to have his party because he has some pretty big changes happening and we didn't want to overwhelm him. Plus having all kids birthdays in a row with only a couple weeks apart (trust me not planned) is overwhelming for the parents and guests.
Odyn's big change is that he also started preschool today. As you can tell from his face he is ecstatic about it. In fact that is all he talked about last night, this morning, and for most of the day. He's in the afternoon class so when he saw Damien and Aries get on the bus this morning, He was shouting "Wait for me!" trying to unbuckle himself from the car seat. It took some mighty convincing on our parts to explain to him that he would indeed be going to school today, just not right at that moment.
So for a birthday big boy going to school for the first time we took him to get his very first backpack. As you can see he clearly picked this one out all by himself. Soon he will ride the bus for the first time - Damien will be there just in case but I don't think he will have any problems. After all that was the one thing about school he wanted to do most.
Happy 3rd Birthday my sweet Odyn!

Nasty Bug
It seems we are quarantined here at the moment. A nasty little under the weather bug has taken it's toll on the house. Patient zero, Miss Aries, seems to be fine now and skipping about - but Odyn and myself are still in our bubbles.
Not sure how the older males in the house seem to dodge the bullet every time. Maybe I would have too , but I can't help snuggle up the kids when they are sick. It seems to be the only time they stop long enough to snuggle.
Tonight I have plans, if I can keep my eyes open, to work on some fun handmade items for the shop. New to my shop things, like clothing items (washed and germ free). While I am in the studio I think I may poke around a bit in my fabric cupboard for a fun giveaway. But more on that tomorrow. Right now I am going to go pump myself full of vitamin C.
